Chloe Alexander, Aiden, 2019, Silkscreen, monoprint, and charcoal, 20 x 20 in.

Experimenting with various matrices from polymer plates to silkscreens and even sanded birch mokulito plates, Chloe Alexander’s multi-faceted approach to printmaking allows her to create unique mixed-media works on paper. Inspired by the rich and high contrast illustrations found in illuminated texts, graphic novels, and children’s fairy tales, Alexander creates whimsical, nostalgia-provoking images that eloquently communicate the unspoken narratives of the figures portrayed.

This week, we’re thrilled to team up with Jamaal Barber of Studio Noize Podcast for an interview with Alexander. In this lively conversation, Barber and Alexander speak about the printmaking scene in Atlanta, including her ongoing residency with The Creatives Project, and dive into the evolution of Alexander’s prints, balancing family life with her art practice, and the ways in which PrintAustin and print-focused exhibits have inspired her to push her work in new directions.
