Flatbed Contemporary Print Fair–showcasing fine art print publishers and self-publishers from Texas and beyond. New and established collectors are invited to peruse and purchase limited editions. Take advantage of Flatbed’s intimate and relaxed setting to meet and talk with artists, printers, and publishers. Learn more about printmaking techniques during Saturday’s on-going printmaking demos in the print shop, and about contemporary art and publishing during Sunday’s artist and publisher talks. Exhibitors include Tom Huck/Evil Prints, P.R.I.N.T Press, Mike Sims/Lawrence Lithography Workshop, Mike Hart/Peregrine Press, Jenny Robinson, Daryl Howard, and others. (See February 12 and 14)

Nancy Mims: The Passed Looms Present

The Elisabet Ney Museum’s landscape, both north and south of the bisecting Waller Creek, becomes a medium along with enormous photographs printed on cloth, found objects, and thread in this site-specific participatory installation created by Nancy Mims. A tree-bound loom will be the epicenter, on which a print piece will come together with the help of strings, air, and hands. Visitor activities will be featured; there will be an artist’s talk at 2PM both days. Reception to be held from 4 to 6 Saturday evening. (See February 14)

Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia

1964-Monument to the conquerors of space The Contemporary_LR

Retrospective of the work of Mark Mothersbaugh from the beginning of his career in the early 1970s through the present. Known throughout the world as a founding member of the popular band DEVO, Mothersbaugh has been a prolific artist since before the band’s inception and continues to make art to this day. A creative polymath, Mothersbaugh’s diverse body of work includes drawings, sculptures, photographs, videos, prints and rugs.
