PrintAustin at Link & Pin

Sep. 03-Oct.21

Event Description

The 2018 PrintAustin Invitational presents emerging perspectives in printmaking. Guest curated by Paloma Mayorga, flux explores the fluidity between traditional and nontraditional mediums. By fusing various disciplines with serigraphy techniques, featured artists Essentials, Mirjam Dijkema, Nansi Guevara, and Michael Menchaca offer local and international approaches to this medium. The versatility of serigraphy lends itself to negotiate formal aspects of creating prints. A technique that was conventionally limited to a two dimensional surface, now permeates dimension and inhabits the viewer’s physical space. From collage to installation and textiles, the works in this exhibition make room for underrepresented narratives to flourish in a tradition-dominated field.
